A survey from Leggett estate agents done after the referendum shows that a record number of British people wish to leave Britain permanently. As The Connexion magazine reports, the Leggett survey covering 1,072 British people accessing their website in the two weeks following the Brexit vote, revealed that 50% of those polled said they intended to make a permanent move to France and 20% intended to buy a holiday home. This is up from 38% from a similar poll done by Rightmove a year earlier.
This makes a lot of sense, as it will be easier to move now while the UK is still part of the EU, than later when the process may become more complex. It also is a good a time to sell while the UK property market is at an all time high, although the pound has already started to drop against the Euro.
There may also be a movement of British people heading back to the UK in the light of uncertainty with regards to healthcare, but if Swiss and Norwegians that are not in the EU are retiring to France, then Britons should not face a worse situation than them in future.
So whatever your motivations are to move to the South of France, baguettes and rosé by the sea, Brexit blues or just the weather, Smartfinder Home will be at your side to help you make the move.
